The works which have been curated for this exhibition provide a "snap shot" of a ten year period in the life of the British painter Geoff Morten.
This is the first time that the paintings, selected from a series of much larger exhibitions, previously shown in England, Scotland, Romania and Eastern Europe with collective titles including, "Double Visions"; "Recurrent Consistencies"; "Two Lands" and "Crossing Borders" have been shown as a retrospective group in the United States, together with new work which has been produced in the last two years.
The current title "TRANSITION" is significant because it not only documents the development of his subject matter, equivalents and painterly issues, but identifies the relocation of the artist from the UK to the USA as a major factor in determining the development of new work.
Geoff Morten will be holding slide lectures/ talks in front of the work at the SCICA during the duration of this exhibition, where he will speak in detail about the background, context and content of his work as a painter and printmaker.
Catalogue essays, by leading UK Art Historians, are also available for viewing through the SCICA.
