Blue MaQuette - The making of a 100th scale replica of downtown Santa Cruz

In December 2004 SCICA Director Kirby Scudder lived in the "?" Gallery for the month of December while

building the time based, 100th scale model of downtown Santa Cruz.  The video captured by a 24/7 webcam

shows the development of this ground breaking project.

SCICA Highlights 2004

Year one for the Santa Cruz Institute of Contemporary Arts has laid the ground work for an exhillerating and important framework for the contemporary arts in Santa Cruz.

KOWHAUS

As the city of Santa Cruz begins the process of transforming the former Salz Tannery site into the future home

of the Tannery Arts Center, the SCICA has embarked on a five month installation project entitled "KOWHAUS". 

A play on words refering to Germany's famous art and design school BAUHAUS, this project entails the

building of a dozen large scale paper mache cows on the site.
