Pacific Avenue -Saturday, 1pm-2pm

Cook'n Company - Accept...Except

"Accept. . .except: the paradox of faith" is a high-energy modern dance show exploring the contradictions and social impact of the hidden values of religion. The show features a toe-tapping, soulful collection of traditional folk songs, gospel, and spirituals addressing the issues of judgment, discrimination and alienation.  Weaving spoken dialog and choreography, "Accept. . .except" is director/choreographer Rivera Cook's first production under the auspices of Cook 'n Company.

Motion Pacific - Fri 8pm and Sun 8pm. With Flaming Puppet Sisters

Lisa Christensen - Pearl Berry

Pearl Berry is an older woman who complains about her daughter interfering in her life, "for her own safety". When a lightbulb burns out and Pearl climbs onto the chair to change it. Lisa's bungee techniques combined withn the hillarity and charm brought through the character of Pearl offer a fun and irreverent look at the spunky perserverance in the face of the declining physical abilities that accompany aging.

418 Project  - Sat 9pm and Sun 9pm. with Frey Faust, Sha and Blah, Ana Flecha

Lauren Crux - This is Just To Say...

a performance of joyous rebellion & of writing/living from the margins

Notes are the little connectors, the snacks of writing, yet notes can also be intrusive, subversive, dangerous. They can be nothing but a moments scribbling, destined for the trash can, or they can carry enormous social, political and/or personal power, e.g. the note left by the murderer, the suicide, the political prisoner, the note that when leaked brings down a government.

Community TV - Sat 8pm and Sun 7pm. with the Izzy Sisters.

Erica Lann-Clark - One For My Baubo

What do you do when you're going down for the count? This piece follows the hair-brained misadventures of a woman already a little crazy who wants to be recognized - just once - as a creature made in the image of God, you know, like men  are, everywhere, even still today.

A chance phone call sends her hurtling into her cultural tragedy,  the politics of class, race, gender, and a dreadful victimhood. So who calls her?  A relative. Who else sends us hurtling down the alleys of our dissolution?  Now, you want to know, will she climb out?  Will the talking vagina save her?  Come see the show.

Motion Pacific - Fri 7pm and Sun 8pm. With Shadow City

Jessica Fudim - Sheepish

Little Bo Peep is determined to recover her lambs on the lam as she digs through virtual hillsides, wrangles cottenballs, serenades sheep-shaped clouds and obediently dances to the audience's instructions. In this multi-media, solo dance-theater piece, video backdrops and dreamy sound collages set the stage for bo's travels between the world of "what if's" and the here and now. Hope turns to hallucination as Sheepish cracks open the question, "Who are we without the ones we love...and how can they be gone when we think we see them everywhere?

418 Project - Sat 7pm and Sun 7pm. with Shelly Adams-Stryker $5

Sha Sha Higby

Legendary international performance artist, Sha Sha Higby presents Dust on Water, premier of evocative sculptural costume & puppetry dance, in a drama of memory and timelessness

"A Higby performance is a blissful combination of shamanism, dance, & puppetry in which the costume comes alive. For three decades her art has remained as impressively unique as it is whimsically refreshing." San Francisco Chronicle

Actor's Theater - Fri 8:30pm and Sun 6pm.

Izzy Sisters

Ground Play  A playful duet about a woman accepting, loving, and dancing with the little girl inside her.  This piece reflects the priceless message that not all young girls receive that they are more than OK just the way they are, and that the world does want to see them and hear what they have to say, despite all messages they might receive to the contrary.

Community Television - Sat 7pm and Sun 8pm. with Lauren Crux

Sha and Blah Productions - The Haunting of Grandmothers

Sarah Day and Daniel Davis, Shah and Blah Productions, are presenting an excerpt from a new full-length piece currently in development. Weaving dance with symbolic narrative, "The Haunting of Grandmothers" offers a glimpse into a poetic mind holding a memory dislocated in time and space.  It is an exploration of a process, and the personal ghosts that arise as the self and physicality are disintegrating.  The piece has been greatly influenced by intimate family experiences with Alzheimers.

418 Project - Sat 9pm and Sun 9pm. with .Frey Faust, Lisa Christensen, Ana Flecha

Shadow City - The Rehearsal Room

The piece involves a Classical Flutist trying to rehearse (Debussy's Afternoon of a Faun) and a mangy, working class Custodian interrupting her with various suggestions and comments, at a certain point the Flutist gets real pissed and says: "What do you know about music anyway?" and what follows is a capsulated history of music, from Chant to Modern, delivered by the Custodian in working class jive talk as he nonchalantly continues his tasks, sweeping, scrubbing, etc. This leads to an ironic denouement that is sure to get a chuckle or two.

Motion Pacific - Fri 7pm and Sun 7pm. with Erica Lann-Clark

Richard Stockton - Fondle the Fear

Too tired of self help to help yourself? Can't afford a shrink? Laugh yourself into a positive state with comedian/empowerment sage Richard Stockton as he performs "Fondle The Fear", a hilarious alternative to running from your demons. With the comedian's "true stories and real jokes," turn your fears into power while you laugh your ass off. Richard Stockton claims to be a feral child raised by Republicans; indeed he looks like a cross between Ronald Reagan and Don Knotts. In his twenty years as a standup comedian, he has appeared on dozens of national TV shows – growing an audience of devotees to his unique take on the human potential movement.
